Decor Care & Maintenance
General care principles for common home-decor materials. Always follow the instructions supplied with the specific product.
Ceramics and pottery
Dust with a soft dry cloth. Check whether an item is glazed, porous, watertight, food-safe, or decorative-only before using water, flowers, oils, or food.
Wood
Avoid prolonged water contact, strong cleaners, and direct heat unless the finish is specifically designed for it. Use coasters or felt pads under objects that can scratch surfaces.
Metal
Different metals and finishes react differently to moisture and cleaners. Keep dry where advised and avoid abrasive products on plated or coated surfaces.
Textiles
Follow fibre-specific washing instructions. Sunlight can fade colour over time, while humidity can affect natural fibres if items remain damp.
Glass
Handle with dry hands, keep away from unstable edges, and use non-abrasive cleaning cloths. Heavy or tall glass objects should be placed where they are less likely to be knocked over.
